The remake of Resident Evil 3 was not something that Capcom suddenly decided after reaping great success from the recent remake of Resident Evil 2. Both remakes were actually planned a long time ago and to date, Capcom has spent over three years breathing new life into the two classic and iconic games.
Speaking with Edge for the latest issue, co-producer Masachika Kawata confirmed: “some overlap between the development” of both remakes. Hence, finishing up Resident Evil 2 would have normally meant an easier time for Capcom with Resident Evil 3. That was never the case.
