My only evidence of this is a phone conversation with a store manager, but pretty much title. With mounting pressure from governments to close non-essential businesses, GameStop is trying to push out Animal Crossing as early as possible so that people don’t end up getting it weeks after release because all the stores close.
Nintendo is not a company that would typically do this, but GameStop’s hoping that having Reggie on board will make it happen. My local store already moved its Thursday midnight release to 8 pm, but they’re looking it doing it earlier, perhaps Thursday morning or Wednesday evening. So for all of you that preordered New Horizons from GameStop, keep an eye out for an email for them, it could mean we get NH a little early :)
