So I was reading an article this morning.https://www.polygon.com/2020/3/11/21165383/e3-2020-canceled-coronavirus
If this is true than this could hurt the gaming industry. E3 has been going on since 1995 and has never been cancelled. Thousands of people paid money for tickets, flights and hotels. Many companies from around the world show up to E3. The biggest games get announced. And this year apparently people said that Take Two was going to show up. After this I fear E3 will never recover. People won't want to pay tons of money again and than the event might get cancelled again.
This is a big deal because Xbox series x was supposed to get new info, Ubisoft would've announced their new games and show off new trailers and game play. To be honest if E3 begins to not be very popular or begins to die after this year if it really is cancelled than I wouldn't be surprised. This will be Sony's second year not attending E3. And we can tell that companies are beginning to step away from these big events. Now Sony is making big announcements with State of Play or Nintendo is doing Nintendo Direct and Ubisoft is doing State of the game.
Maybe now in the future companies will hold smaller events that cost less money or just announce games on random dates who knows. For companies to go to E3 probably costs a ton of money with all the vendors and employee's going and everything else. Look I'm just concerned for E3 and I'm concerned for gamescon 2020.
