The images in Japanese were supposedly lifted from a discord server, where the user claimed to have had access to internal Nintendo servers. The images in English surfaced on 4chan shortly after.
The poster on 4chan claimed that the service would be releasing today, March 30. However, I have my doubts that this is true. In one of the Japanese images, you can see E32020 clearly visible, and Koizumi saying “うごくメモ帳” (Flipnote studio) as the frog jumps out of a pond behind him. To me, this seems to suggest that Flipnote studio will be announced and released around the time E3 would have probably taken place this year in June.
Another interesting thing to note is that we see multiple Nintendo characters throughout the images. These are:
Flick and CJ (The bug and fish competition NPC’s from Animal Crossing: New Horizons)
LD-002G Scervo (Mini boss in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword)
A small running Mario
Ribbon Girl (Arms)
Mario and Luigi from Mario Odyssey (It appears Luigi has a Cappy of his own)
Olimar and Pikmin
A first person perspective of Samus shooting a Metroid
Vivian, Goombella, Yoshi, Bobary (Partner characters from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door)
Pikachu Squirtle and Urshafu(?) from what appears to be Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX
An unknown Robot and Pink haired lady.
ALL THIS BEING SAID: I wonder if any of these images tie into possible E3 announcements and releases we may see in 2020 or 2021. Here’s my thoughts.
Obviously Animal Crossing and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX are out. The small running Mario may tie into the 3D Mario remaster leak we have seen swirling around today, The Skyward Sword Flipnote may hint at the rumored Skyward Sword HD we have been hearing about for a while now, Ribbon Girl May tie into the renewed push at Nintendo to revive ARMS, or the Smash bros character tie in. Obviously Samus is Metroid Prime 4.
The other 3: The PM: TTYD characters may be a sign of a TTYD remake or the new paper Mario, both of which have been heavily speculated as of recently.
The Mario and Luigi may hint towards a Mario Odyssey sequel
The robot may be a reference to the Robot hidden behind the Mario statue in the art given to Reggie from Retro studios, and may hint at a new IP.
