Some days ago we had a "leak" here in this subreddit which sounded very authentic, with certain way too detailed and specific points which made us question if the leak could actually be true. Unfortunalety it was debunked as fake and deleted and here is a piece of my response, why it might not be true and what the next GTA could be like:
- in a Digital Trends interview from 2012 the former Rockstar producer Leslie Benzies said:
"... at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas, and in that context reimagining Vice City would be very interesting."
This is was what he said in 2012, at a time which could possibly be the point where GTA6 pre production started. Now with better technology, new consoles incoming and games which are getting bigger and bigger, it could be something that Rockstar could pull off, even if they would have to split it into two or three games due to size limitations and which will be released every year, maybe even Rockstars take on "games as a service" (which I am not a big fan of, tbh). Some people already did some pretty awesome concept maps and even looking at them gets me hyped.
Listen, since I read this interview with Leslie Benzies, this is my wet GTA fantasy dream even though it´s a little bit off topic but I have to write it down:
Imagine a miniature version of the USA with all GTA cities connected by roads with a lot of rural regions, small villages like in GTA:SA, forrests, mountains, deserts, snowy areas.
In the south east there could be reworked Vice City, which could be a mixture of Miami and New Orleans, in the north east Libery City, similar to the GTA 4 version and including the surrounding countryside like the Hudson Valley with a lot of lakes. Going West there could be a new city which could be a condensed version of Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, just putting the best bits of these cities together and create a new GTA city called Capitol City or something like that. Going north there could be modern day North Yankton. Going further west we could reach the State of San Andreas, which will be a mixture of the GTA San Andreas and GTA 5 map. Los Santos and the whole state as we know it from GTA 5 with modernized graphics + completely reworked versions of San Fierro and Las Venturas.
If this is something anywhere near to what Rockstar is actually working on this would be their magnum opus and a comprehensible reason why the time gaps between their releases are getting bigger and bigger. There would be no need to call it by a number, it could just simply go by the name "GTA USA" or "GTA World" and could combine everything we have seen in GTA history in the past 18 years.
This may sound like a fiction too good to be true but that interview really made me hopeful that someday we will probably see something similar to what I described in my stupid idea.
