Killzone reboot Is in development at Guerilla Games. The project started back in early 2017, a little while before the release oh Horizon: Zero Dawn. The title is meant to be a launch title with the next generation Playstation’s and is running on an upgraded Decima engine. This is a soft reboot of the long running franchise, the title will have no significant story basis of the older releases but definitely callbacks. The last Killzone game was released in 2013 to mediocre reception and Guerrilla thought after the release of Horizon, it was time to reboot Killzone. It will still have the two main factions of the Vetkans and the Helghasts . The story is trying to be more grounded and the will have 2 main protagonists across both sides. The game will have light rpg mechanics such as dialogue and small choices that will impact small areas of the game. The multiplayer will be a massive battlefield with testing up to 80 players on a map. The maps are fully destructible with close quarter infantry and dogfights. The maps are dynamic and will have night cycles for added replay-ability. The title is meant to be a showcase for the PlayStation 5’s. The title will support Native 4K at higher frame-rates, up to 120 fps in testing. The campaign will have hardware based reflection Ray- tracing. The are testing with the multiplayer as well. Guerrilla Games has two teams, more than half have been working on the Killzone game with the rest working on the Next Horizon game. This game is meant to arrive by Fall 2020.
