Personally I believe that by the end of this year it will be the cut off point for R* games and their continued support for Gta online.
Allow me to explain.
The reason I say this is that personally I believe R’s creativity is spent at this point, the Casino update back in the summer was their best update not to mention with the recent Casino heist that story is now wrapped up, the beloved Chilliad mystery is also finished. So for me I don’t see how R can top the last 2 updates, coupled with them admitting to slowing down Dlc support this year.
I believe you also have to acknowledge the release of the next gen consoles this year, it’s obvious at this point Gta won’t move to a 3rd gen and a massive chunk of the player base will go with it. There will also most definitely be a remastered version of RDR2, I really don’t see where R* can go from here.
To be completely honest I think stringing out more lack lustre dlcs just for some added time is damaging, the best course of action in my opinion would be to cut Dlc support and fully focus on Gta 6.
