Rockstar is working on the next GTA game right now as we speak. It’s not going to be called GTA 6, but they are still working out a name for it. I’m a play tester for this game, and I’m here to tell you a little about it. There was another leak a little while ago (I will put the link in the comments after I type this) that basically explained the huge map spanning from vice city to Boston (Carcer city)? That leak was half correct. The guy made up a lot of bull. The map will be huge, but it won’t feature vice city. I couldn’t go outside of Boston, but I got to see the map.
Carcer City is Boston, and it features a modern version of the mob. You and your buddy basically infiltrate this crime family, and you basically have to destroy it form the inside. It takes a lot of inspiration from The Departed. I played a few story missions, but they weren’t huge plot points. For example, the leader of the family takes the main character, Jack, to a library for a drug deal, which ends up in a shootout. Just basic missions like that.
The graphics are amazing. It really is a technical marvel. Red Dead 2 was really a “guinea pig” of sorts to see how far rockstar can go in graphics. The details are really there too, like if you smoke, people will smell it on you. If you do cocaine, it will stay on your nose for a while. Shooting guns will also cause you to smell. You can carry 2 concealed firearms without a problem, but if you carry rifles or shotguns people will call the police. You can carry duffel bags and no one will notice. If you commit serious crimes and you go to a house or hotel, there is a chance noose will knock down your door. Basically there is a bounty system like red dead, but instead of a price there are different stages of you being wanted. There are 6, and the 6th is manhunt, where you are basically fucked and everywhere you go cops can recognize you, but it’s not that hard to avoid. Realism can be a bit annoying at times, so I hope by the time it comes out they will dial it down a bit.
Rockstar also decided to really reference their other games a lot. Remember when I told you about that library mission? In that, Jack and the family leader talk about Arthur and Dutch. It talked about an informant he killed in the grizzlies. Arthur told Mary Beth a traitor was killed in camp, and we know the gang was in the grizzlies before they went to blackwater. Saint Denis was referenced by npcs when I went out to lunch, some claimed it flooded. California was referenced as a city, and at first I was confused, but then I realized people said red dead and gta can’t be in the same universe because California and San Andreas can’t exist together, so I guess this is a retcon to that.
