(Leaks) Death Stranding - Openworld empty, and linear hell, according to the impressions of those who reviewed it. Furthermore, it seems that Sony is buying journalists' reviews, to guarantee the game a good rating

This opinion and indiscretion comes from a journalist, anonymous, on the pages of the 4chan site.

[The anonymous user Ekiryn said:

I was extremely disappointed and upset by my experience with Death Stranding.

I finished writing the game review today. And in rethinking the senseless and absolutely idiotic events of the game I experienced, like the offscreen deaths of secondary characters, the "Boss battle", if we want to call them that, absolutely without challenge and of any pathos, they left me dumbfounded and literally without words. If to this we add the beauty of ONLY 2 weapons that can be used freely, and among these an electric riffle (which when the cartridges, which are exclusively electric, must be reloaded in charging stations scattered in the empty fucking game map) that acts practically as a teaser, and a pathetic electric strings launcher (to immobilize random enemies).

While the rest of the "weapons" are things you can only use when the game offers them to you for that battle. (an example is the battle against that giant black lion, where the game offers you small grenades to throw at it, and that you can't use outside of that battle) And the final pre-Boss, the giant monster projected by Eva, formed by a thousand black jellyfish, and which must be dispersed with cannon turrets positioned on the roofs of the city. (the most tedious part of the game) And this fucking creature isn't even real! Because it's just a fucking projection, like the ones made by the villan of the last Spider-man movie Far From Home.

And then you end up reaching the dimension of Hell, often just because those fucking shadows capture you, you end up in an ultra-linear and super-guided world. Every time I finished here, I found myself like playing a different game and, in this case, almost like playing a bad TPS / FPS game. (and it is at this moment that you realize that, beyond being able to lower yourself to hide in the tall grass, THE GAME DOES NOT HAVE A COVER SYSTEM. And in the case of a desire to cover yourself, you will not be able to do it in any way behind a wall )

But the bosses of my videogame newspaper, of which I'm just an employee, told me to dampen and hide as much as possible the serious flaws of the game being reviewed. Because they have to respect the publishing and promotion agreements of the game made with Sony Playstation.

And for this reason I was not given any freedom even to decide the final evaluation of the fucking game. Because the newspaper for which I work has promised Sony a score of no less than 8 in exchange for a renewal of the partnership for the future guaranteed promotion of its products.

If I were free to give my score to the game, I would have given it a 6.5 or 7. Clearly listing all the negative and positive points of the game.

The good:

  • very high level graphics
  • spectacular soundtrack
  • interesting and new gameplay ideas

And the bad:

  • clumsy and slow animations
  • poor equipment, and very limited (only 2 "weapons" to use freely throughout the game)
  • mysterious story at the beginning, extremely banal and illogical in the end
  • some plot holes, and relief events offscreen (like the death of secondary characters)

  • the game world. Almost totally empty in the openworld, and fortunately linear and guided when you're in Hell. (and the maps of hell can be repeated multiple times, when you have the misfortune to finish us, ending up with sections that are often almost identical, guided, and extremely boring)

  • unstable framerates. Especially in the guided battles against the Bosses (of which some Bosses also repetitive and copy and paste) of the game

  • some minor bugs present in the game

In addition I could add other bad things that I did not like, but these concern, more than anything else, something that I hated strongly:

  • the baby cries Too much! (I started to hate him)

  • the animation of the scale is tedious and fucking slow (the first time you say "wow", but after you do it ten and more times it becomes extremely boring) Nor can it be used totally freely, moreover.

  • the motorbike makes you fall down many times. Because it often gets stuck, it makes you fall, then you have to raise it up again, and calm the fucking baby. And repeat the process every time you don't pay attention.

Ultimately, for me as a whole experience to forget. But I already know that my work on the review of the game will be censored, and hidden, from the most serious negative points, to the problems also of a technical nature, by the bosses of the online magazine for which I work, to make the evaluation that will support the requests made by the pact with Sony.]

From what we read the game seems to have its big flaws.

But if Sony is so petty as to make arrangements to get better ratings on the game, in advance, and ignoring what reviewers really think, then it would be very serious.

Here we would talk about censorship of professional and public opinion.

And it would be a serious precedent for Sony.
